Regular Pyramid Formulas

A regular pyramid is a pyramid with a regular polygon base whose apex projects to the center of the base.

Height is the perpendicular distance from the apex to the base plane.

Base area

The base area is the area of the regular polygon that forms the base of the pyramid. See the regular polygon formulas.

Lateral surface area

$$S_{l}=\frac{1}{2}\times P\times l$$

where,

Sl— lateral surface area;
P— base perimeter;
l— slant height.

Total surface area

$$S_{t}=S_{l}+S_{b}$$

where,

St— total surface area;
Sl— lateral surface area;
Sb— base area.

Volume

$$V=\frac{1}{3}\times S_{b}\times H$$

where,

V— volume;
Sb— base area;
H— pyramid height.
