Rotating bodies

Rotating shape is a geometric figure formed by the rotation of a planar shape around an axis (line) within the plane of the shape.

Some well-known rotational bodies include:

  • Sphere - formed by the rotation of a circle or semicircle around its diameter.
  • Cone - formed by the rotation of a right-angled triangle around one of its legs.
  • Cylinder - formed by the rotation of a rectangle or square around one of its sides.
